This policy explains what information Umbra (“the App”) collects, why, and the choices you have. We tried to keep it short and honest. If anything is unclear, write to us at the address above.

1. Information stored on your device

The App stores the following locally on your device using your browser/WebView storage (localStorage):

• Chapter progress, level completions, shard balance, achievements
• Your sound, music, haptics, and render-quality preferences
• Anonymous play statistics (total play time, login streak)

This data never leaves your device by default and is not transmitted to us or any third party. It is included in your device’s standard cloud backup (Google Drive Auto Backup) so progress restores when you reinstall.

2. Information we do NOT collect ourselves

• We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or precise location.
• We do not require an account.
• We do not store any of the data described in section 3 or 4 on our own servers.

3. Analytics (Firebase Analytics)

The App uses Firebase Analytics (a Google product) to understand which chapters players reach, where they get stuck, and how features are used. This helps us prioritise improvements.

Firebase Analytics may collect:

• Anonymous usage events (e.g., chapter started, chapter cleared, hint used) and the time they fired
• An anonymous app instance ID Firebase generates for your installation (resets if you uninstall or clear data)
• Standard device info (model, OS version, language, country, network type)
• Approximate (country/region) location derived from your IP address — never precise GPS

We never see your name, email, phone number, contacts, or any other personal identifier through Firebase. Data is processed by Google under its own privacy policy linked above.

4. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The App shows opt-in rewarded video ads only — provided by Google AdMob. An ad plays only when you tap a button to unlock an in-game help (“Ghost Shadow” or “Slow Light”). We do not show banner ads, interstitial ads, or pop-up ads at any other time.

To serve ads, AdMob may collect:

• Your device’s Advertising ID (a resettable identifier you control via Android Settings → Privacy → Ads)
• Approximate (city-level) location derived from your IP address
• Standard device info (model, OS version, language, network type)
• Basic interaction data (whether the ad finished, was skipped, was tapped)

This data is processed by Google under its own privacy policy linked above. We never see it directly. To limit personalised ads, use Android’s Opt out of Ads Personalisation setting; the App will respect it on the next ad request.

5. Network requests

Outside of Firebase Analytics events and AdMob ad requests (the latter only when you tap to watch one), the App makes no network requests. All assets — fonts, JavaScript, levels, sounds, and translations — are bundled with the App and served from your device. Optional updates are delivered through the Play Store.

6. Children’s privacy

The App is suitable for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). AdMob is configured to not request personalised ads from users that we identify as children.

7. Your choices

• Reset progress: Settings → “Reset progress” deletes all locally stored game data.
• Uninstall: Removing the App deletes all locally stored data. If Auto Backup is enabled on your device, a copy may remain in your Google Drive backup until you remove it from Drive.
• Reset advertising ID: Android Settings → Privacy → Ads → Reset advertising ID (or Delete advertising ID on Android 12+).
• Opt out of Firebase Analytics: Android Settings → Apps → Umbra → Permissions / Storage → Clear data, then disable network in Airplane Mode while playing if you wish to ensure no events are sent.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the “Effective date” above and announced in the App’s update notes.

9. Jurisdiction

This policy is governed by the laws of India (Rajasthan). If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, additional rights may apply (right to access, rectify, erase, or port your data). Because the App stores data only on your device, you can exercise these rights yourself via the “Reset progress” button or by uninstalling.
